The HVAC Technician (Domestic Heating and Ventilation) is a key role within the Property Services Department, supporting the Asset Management and Clúid Works team in the ongoing development of the servicing and repairs team, with particular emphasis on modern domestic heating and ventilation systems including Heat Pumps, Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery, continuous Mechanical Extract Ventilation, Solar Water heating systems, heating controls and hybrid systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carrying out regular maintenance of heat pumps and other renewable heating and ventilation systems
  • Repairing heat pumps and other renewable heating and ventilation in tenants’ homes
  • On site fault finding and problem solving
  • Providing technical support to in-house servicing and repairs operatives
  • Providing technical support to Housing Advisors and Resource Planners to triage repair calls prior to escalation
  • Provision of quality inspections on subcontractor servicing and repairs
 Asset Management
  • Work with Asset Management team to improve servicing and maintenance processes.
  • Work closely with the Mechanical Engineer, Building Surveying Managers (BSMs) and Property Surveyor delivery team to plan and monitor the delivery of the BEC schemes programme.
  • Support the Mechanical Engineer, BSMs and their teams in the selection and appointment of Heat Pump contractors engaged by Clúid and contribute to ensuring that the contractual arrangements are structured to ensure that they meet the quality and price expectations of Clúid.
  • Support the Mechanical Engineer in the establishment and maintenance of a suite of maintenance contracts for Clúid’s Heat pump asset base.
  • Support in the monitoring of quality with respect to Heat Pump installation and servicing programmes.
  • Quality improvement and optimisation of existing heat pump stock
 Technical support & training
  • Be part of a technical support team, providing technical support and training on all HP products and systems to customers and internal staff.
  • Support internal repairs operatives with servicing of Heat Pumps, Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery, continuous Mechanical Extract Ventilation, Solar Water heating systems, heating controls and hybrid systems Support internal repairs operatives with troubleshooting faults on Heat Pumps, Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery, continuous Mechanical Extract Ventilation, Solar Water heating systems, heating controls and hybrid system both remotely or on-site.
  • Support the on-boarding team with technical guidance on training for residents in the use of domestic heating and ventilation and ancillary equipment.
  • Have a proactive solution-focused approach to addressing issues and overcoming problems.

Person Specification

  • Good understanding and knowledge of basic Health & Safety.
  • Ability to make decisions and confident at problem solving.
  • Ability to self-manage and take accountability for own work schedule.
  • Good communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to up-skill and learn about other systems.

Experience/Qualifications

  • National Craft Certificate/Solas/Trade Cert in either Electrical, Plumbing or Refrigeration and Air Conditioning
  • F-Gas Certification
  • Current driving licence
  • 3+ years experience in similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of Heat Pump technology
  • Proven experience in fault finding on renewable technology systems
  • Proven experience of heating control systems and fault finding
  • Knowledge of building services, communal heating and distribution systems, CHP, Generators, Fire Sprinkler Systems desirable
  • Experience working with and training provided by Daikin, Hitachi, LG, Mitsubishi, Panasonic, Samsung and other leading heat pump manufacturers desirable 
  • Ability to share knowledge and educate tenants, repairs operatives and Contact Centre advisors
